Steampunk Earthquake in Baltimore
The history of Baltimore is the history of the American railroad, as it is the farthest inland port on the east coast. The recent (August,2011) earthquake is shown by broken columns which are made of images of the Shot Tower. A concentric circular map is the foundation for this collage. The 1948 map illustrates how far each circular district is from the central post office.

Today, the quest for this type of knowledge is diminished by the pervasiveness of technological entertainment represented here by flat-screen television monitors. The more we are entertained, the flatter the world becomes.
