French Azilum was a planned village in Bradford County, Pennsylvania, built as a refuge for French Monarchists fleeing the French Revolution and slave uprisings in Saint-Domingue (now Haiti). According to legend, Marie Antoinette and her two surviving children were to settle there.
I combined photos of discarded farm equipment overlaid with images of Versailles and the deposed monarch to illustrate the environment she would inhabit, anachronistically.
