During Tulipmania (Netherlands, 1630’s) alchemic experimentation; sprlnkling gold dust on bulbs, was conducted in an attempt to force the most desired, variegated petal patterns, with no understanding of the cause of disruption to the solidly coloured petals.

Gold, bronze and silver coins are breaking off; scattering and realigning amongst tulips, made from orizomegami (Japanese folded and dyed paper). The graphs are of currency value fluctuations; gold compared to euros, gold vs. dollars, etc. to represent the speculative trading of tulip bulbs as currency.
